The Philadelphia Area Chapter Meeting Professionals International and the Philadelphia Business Travel Association are pleased to announce that the 2009 Education Institute will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009 in conjunction with the PAMPI Monthly Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the Radisson Valley Forge.

Wednesday Sessions
Ethics Roundtable Discussion presented by Joan Eisenstodt (4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.)
In a world where the economy challenges our normal behaviors, behaving ethically is seen as a greater challenge. In this open discussion, where confidentiality will be honored, we'll look at ethics issues that challenge us. These may include: contract renegotiations, rate issues after a signed contract, honoring contracts, reporting expenses, and more.

Wednesday Keynote (6:30 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.)
Meetings 2.0 - How Web 2.0 Will Change the Face of the Hospitality Industry presented by Corbin Ball
New web technology is changing the face of the hospitality industry. Trends in 2.0 including blogs, mini-blogs, RSS, podcasting, social software, multi-user virtual environments and more will significantly impact planners, travel managers, exhibitors, attendees and event marketers. This session will afford the opportunity to share successes using this technology.

Morning Keynote presented by Bryan Anderson (9:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.)
Bryan Anderson will talk about the process of accepting the new realities of his life and reinventing himself around them. He relates his experiences with Esquire Magazine and how he landed on the cover of this major publication, how he came to be the spokesperson for Quantum Rehab, and the latest updates in his budding acting career. Bryan talks about taking advantage of opportunities as they present themselves and challenges his audience to do the same.

Wednesday Keynote Speaker: CORBIN BALL
Corbin Ball, CSP, CMP, MS is an international speaker, consultant and writer helping clients worldwide use technology to save time and improve productivity. With 20 years of experience running international technology meetings, he now is a highly acclaimed speaker with the ability to make complex subjects understandable and fun. His articles have appeared in hundreds of national and international publications and he has been quoted in the US and News Report, Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Fast Company, PC Magazine and others.

Corbin serves or has served on numerous hotel, corporate, convention bureau and association boards. He is the only person to have received both the MPI International Supplier of the Year and the MPI International Chapter Leader of the Year awards. Corbin has been named for four consecutive years as one of "The 25 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry" by MeetingNews Magazine.

Thursday Keynote Speaker: BRYAN ANDERSON
Bryan resides in the Chicago area nearby his parents, Jim and Janet, identical twin brother Bob, and teenage sister Briana. In addition to academic excellence, Bryan excelled in sports during his high school years and competed as an accomplished gymnast in state level competitions. Following graduation, he worked for American Airlines as a Ground Crew Chief at O’Hare airport.

Bryan enlisted in the Army in April 2001 and had a ‘ship out’ date of September 11, 2001. He served two tours of duty in Iraq and was stationed in the Baghdad area. He attained the rank of Sergeant in the Military Police (MP), conducted police training courses in Iraq and gained additional law enforcement experience at Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary as a prison guard.

In October 2005, Bryan was injured by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that resulted in the loss of both legs and his left hand. As a result of his injuries, he was awarded a Purple Heart. Bryan received rehabilitation for a period of 13 months at Walter Reed Army Hospital. He is one of the few triple amputees to have survived his injuries in Iraq.

Bryan’s story has received extensive media coverage including two feature articles in Esquire Magazine (one a cover shot in January 2007), as well as numerous articles in major newspapers and publications, from his hometown Chicago Sun Times to the LA Times and NY Times.

Bryan has appeared in the HBO Documentary, Alive Day Memories: Home from Iraq, and in a CSI:NY episode titled, DOA for a DAY. He will appears in the Golden Globe Award winning film, The Wrestler, starring Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei, which was released in December 2008. He was interviewed by MTV News, ‘Choose or Lose Street Team and has appeared on the daytime drama, ‘All My Children.’

Bryan is the National Spokesman for Quantum Rehab, a division of Pride Mobility Corp., and travels the country making numerous personal appearances while delivering his message of perseverance and determination in major rehab facilities. In addition, he is a spokesman for USA Cares, a non-profit organization based in Radcliff, KY that is focused on assisting post 911 veterans in times of need.

Bryan is an energetic and enthusiastic individual who enjoys challenging his limits. He snowboards, wake boards, white water rafts and rock climbs. He loves to travel and enjoys meeting new people.

All Monthly Meeting and Education Institute events will be held in the Scanticon Conference Center and/or the Valley Forge Convention Center, which are both connected to the Radisson Valley Forge Hotel.

All attendees must check in at the PAMPI Registration Desk, which will be located on the Main Level of the Valley Forge Convention Center.

Cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the function. No-shows who have registered by fax, mail or via the web, who have not cancelled their reservations will be charged the registration fee.

PAMPI is going green! Materials will not be distributed at the Education Institute. Attendees will have the opportunity to print out their own handouts prior to the conference. An email will be sent to all registered attendees when the handouts are available.

PAMPI Community Development Needs Help
Women Against Abuse operates the only shelter in Philadelphia exclusively for battered women and their children. WAA also offers transitional housing and access to legal services to victims of domestic violence. This combination of services enables WAA to provide clients with the tools necessary to confront their life challenges and to begin lives of independence. Last year WAA served 10,768 individuals, making it one of the largest domestic violence programs in the country.

PAMPI members can support WAA in the following ways:

Education Day, Thursday May 21st - PAMPI is seeking Target, Babies R’ Us, Wal-Mart, Sears gift cards or cash donations.

In addition, the following items are still being collected to help stock Women Against Abuse’s shelter:
